This is what I mean.
Shutterspeed picture 1: 1/800 s
Shutterspeed picture 2: 1/400 s

Picture 1 is freezed. Nothing moves. Picture 2 is more dynamic, the wheels are (kind of) spinning. Because the car moves towards you, you do need to use a quick shutterspeed in this situation, otherwise you will never get a sharp picture. You have to play with it

With the continu auto-focus this picture is unsharp almost 75% of the tries, even with servo auto-focus (this keeps focussing on moving objects).
Wauw; great pic. Very interesting Bob! I will definitely try this. Still I want to play with the servo continu autofocus, maybe together with eye-start. Are digslr's not a little faster than analog or in the contrary; just slower? I don't know.
Cars moving away; the greater the angle, the less you have to pan the camera, so dependant on the speed of the car; it should be allright in certain circumstances. Like the pics from Vu that I see.

By the way; at what speed do you think the cars drove in de Tarzan-corner, and on the straight line at the top of that hill after the Hugenholz? I don't know!

a: like the Testa Rossa
b: like the 456
c: none of your photo's illustrate this

Both shots which are attached in this message were made with autofocus.
The Testarossa is the best example (and a GREAT picture!!!). My camera goes nuts when I try to make a photo like this most of the time.

Now you mention this. May be my camera would have made the photo I took correct with auto-focus... (if I think about it). But I was practising this technique at that time and was only using the manual focus. Your Testarossa picture is a better example. Do these pictures always turn out well with your camera

And you too Niels; very nice. I like the nose of the Lotus racing car a lot, and the bmw's, and the red car with the special effect; is that zooming while taking the picture? of course the picture of those 3 gorilla's on that container is very nice too; in Blijdorp one got away this weekend; here there were suddenly three ! I saw you take the picture; so I stuck my tongue out. Great fun such a telelens is, isn't it ? I think you should buy it for that ridiculous amount I mentioned to you... Don't forget; it is an apo!

Nice to see your results on the places where you were allowed to now because of the workshop!

AND THAN; THERE'S A SURPRISE FOR YOU GUYS!: ....

I have no clue!

...and @Niels: GREAT pics. It shows you had good fun!

@Vu: I missed something when I went home. This is the second time I have taken a picture of a car that burned down shortly after I left..

MG's en Triumphs waarvan de snelheid niet afdruipt. Dit vind ikzelf dus geen foto's om warm van te worden. Ze zijn te statisch waardoor je niet ziet dat er geraced wordt. Een zondagmiddag moederdag op de A1..
