Default Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider, 196

This is my Giulia Spider.
I bought it in 1994 in Johannesburg, SA.
Shipping it to Holland was a disaster. I will spare you the details, but it took 6 months before it arrived in the harbour of Rotterdam!

I had to pick it up in Rotterdam on the very same day as the day that my first born son came home with my wife, straight from the hospital! He was 5 days old then! No one could believe I did pick up the car that day!! Talkin' about priorities he !!

I drove it for 2 years and in 1996 decided to completely restore it. Every, EVERY bolt, nut, etc came off. It took me until 2003 to rebuild it.
Here are some pics how it looks today

The 8C is beautifull and shares it looks with the 33 Stradale. I personally however prefer the charm of the Gulia Spider and will dream driving that car in sunny weather in the Dolomiti

3 weeks ago on a business trip nearby Milano we visited the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese and seen a complete series of 33 of which without doubt the Stradale is the most beautifull one. For me its the best looking Alfa with the Guilia TZ2 on nbr. 2nd position

Default Alfa S

I'm not as long member here, therefore I was just surfing on the forum... When I just saw a thread about my second best car, Alfa Romeo, the SZ!!! There are even some (ex-) owners of this car member on this forum. I have sometimes considered to do as I'm interessed in buying a SZ, so I can make a testdrive in this car. I'm curious how "Il monstor" drives... Somebody?? Thanks.

I always wonder how it is to drive the marvelous Alfa Romea SZ. Can you tell something about your experience?

Cool

I owned SZ 404 (1991) until October 2006 and purchased the car because my 1978 308GTB took too much of my spare time which was becomming difficult since we had 2 small kids. Maintenance is easy since the engine was basically the same as my earlier Alfetta GTV6 but it is a lot faster with 210BHP which combined with its weight of 1280kg was enough for getting the feeling of a fast car. The engine and exhaust sound need improvement so I successfully fitted a stainless sport exhaust. Best of the car is its road holding conditions that made the SZ on the circuit seriously fast and at several events I outperformed lost of Ferrari and Lamborghini. It might be hard to beleive but despite the cars are from 1991 they can corner faster than a F355.
So its great fun but nevertheless after several years I really wanted my 308GTB back because its rougher, you have to work harder, sounds better and made the drive feeling more as a small adventure party. Because I do not have the funds for 2 hobby cars I sold it to an other Alfanatic in the Netherlands
